**Drama Club dues of $25 are due Nov. 1st.

**All Juniors and Seniors will meet with Balfour on November 1st.  Each student will be required to pay $100 deposit when orders are placed.

**Any student interested in joining Jr. High/High School 4-H should see Mrs. Z to pay your $10 dues.  The next meeting will be held on Nov 2 at 2:25pm.

**ATTENTION SENIORS PLANNING TO APPLY TO MCNEESE:  It was announced at this week’s Enrollment Management Meeting that the Priority Deadline for Scholarships has been moved up toNOVEMBER 15. 

The easiest way to apply is for a student to complete the online application for first time freshman status.  In that online application is a question,  “Do you want to be considered for a Scholarship?”  The student answers “Yes,” and a few more questions roll out.  When the student completes the online application and has answered the Scholarship questions, then the student will have applied for a scholarship.**

**University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) Preview Day:  November 12, 2016


**SENIORS:  FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Assistance) is now open.  This is the only application for TOPS, grants, loans, parent loans and work study for financial assistance for college and technical school for the 2017-18 academic year.  Get your FAFSA filled out as soon as possible. 

Horatio Alger National Scholarship:  must demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required); be involved in co-curricular and community service activities; display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity

Coca Cola Scholarship:  achievement-based scholarship, based on leadership, academics, and service.  Apply online at  150 scholarships valued at $20,000 will be awarded.  Deadline to apply:  October 31, 2016.

Voice of Democracy Program:  Students compete by writing and recording a broadcast script on an annual patriotic theme.  This year’s theme is “MY RESPONSIBILITY TO AMERICA.”
This program is open to all students in grades 9-12.  Local winner:  $500 scholarship to the school of their choice; National winners:  $1000-$16,000.  Deadline for entry:  November 1, 2016.

Anne Ford Scholarship for seniors with documented learning disabilities and/or ADHD who are pursuing post-secondary education.  Must have an overall GPA of 3.0, submit current financial information, provide most current documentation (IEP or 504 plan).  Apply athttp://apply.ncld.or/res/p/Eligibilityinfo/

Deadline:  November 13, 2016.

Hagan Scholarship Foundation:  must be a 2017 graduating senior, have a 3.5 GPA, 23 on the ACT, must work 240 hours in the 12 months prior to the start of each academic year of college, must fill out the FAFSA, qualify for Federal grants and demonstrate financial need.  Deadline:  November 15, 2016.

BBG Communications Youth Volunteer Scholarship Award $500; must have completed a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer work, 3.5GPA.  Essay in less than 1000 words why you have chosen to volunteer your time with the organizations that you have and how your experience has changed your life.  Deadline:  November 29, 2016.  Apply online

The Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship:  applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need.  Apply online:  Deadline:  November 30, 2016.

 **AXA Achievement Scholarship:  Students that are active in the community, have led a project that benefits others, or have overcome personal challenges should apply for this scholarship.  The first 10,000 applications will be considered.  Apply online at  December 15, 2016.

The Heart of America Foundation’s Christopher Reeve Service Award:  presented to an extraordinary youth who has demonstrated tremendous courage, compassion and caring in serving his or her community.  $1000; Deadline:  December 1, 2016.

AFL-CIO Scholarship:  3--$1000 scholarships will be awarded.  This scholarship is open to all seniors whose parent/step-parent is a member of an affiliated local union in good standing with the Louisiana AFL-CIO.  An essay is required for consideration:  “Beyond Wages:  The Positive Impact of Organized Labor on the Workplace.”    Deadline:  January 13, 2017.
